Construction Progress Photos From “Tree”, a 336-Unit Vertical Mixed Use Project in Austin, Texas

The construction progress photos below were taken last week at “Tree”, a Vertical Mixed Use (VMU) project, located at 3715 South First Street in Austin, Texas. Tree is a 336-unit, 5,000-SF retail vertical mixed use (VMU) project located in the urban core of Austin. As the civil engineer for the Tree VMU project, BIG RED DOG’s scope of services included preparation of an off-site drainage analysis, design and permitting of nearly 1,000-LF of new left turn lanes on South First Street, obtaining alternative compliance from zoning regulations, and the relocation of two live oak heritage class trees measuring 34-inches and 43-inches, respectively.

 

 

The project was designed by Houston-based Meeks + Partners. Our friends at TBG Partners provided the landscape architecture design for the project and they were also instrumental in obtaining approval of the tree relocation and preservation plan. The City of Austin is well known for their tree preservation goals; during the design, permitting, and construction phases of the project our team worked closely with the Office of the City Arborist.

 

 

Currently under construction, this Greystar Real Estate Partners project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2012.
